Two Men Charged in Shooting of Dwyane Wade’s Cousin
Chicago law enforcement officials announced on Sunday that Darwin Sorrells Jr. and Derren Sorrells, two brothers now on parole, were the men who had fatally shot #Nykea Aldridge, the cousin of National Basketball Association star and Chicago native #Dwyane Wade.

“We’re still going to try to help and empower people like the one who senselessly shot my niece in the head”, Wade told reporters following Aldridge’s death.
26, and Derren Sorrells, 22, are facing charges of first-degree murder and attempted murder in the death of Nykea Aldridge, a 32-year-old mother of four, who was hit in crossfire on Friday while pushing a baby in a stroller. He had been released just two weeks prior to Aldridge’s death. He had six felony arrests in his background. He had been sentenced to six years in January 2013 but was released early, Johnson said.
Police say the pair were trying to shoot an Uber driver dropping off passengers from a nearby auto Friday afternoon when they accidentally shot Aldridge. Chicago police Superintendent Eddie Johnson said at a Sunday news conference. “When will enough be enough?” It’s noteworthy because these two offenders are prime examples of the challenge we face in Chicago with repeat gun offenders who don’t care who they shoot, don’t care whose life they take, and clearly, clearly don’t fear the consequences of their actions. This July alone, there were 65 homicides – the most for that month since 2006. That is more than the number of guns recovered in the two larger cities of NY and Los Angeles combined, he said. Homicides were up almost 50% for the first half of 2016 compared to the same period past year.
Four people have been killed and 24 injured in Chicago shootings since Saturday afternoon, police said Sunday. The list includes about 1,400 individuals.
Aldridge was pushing her baby in a stroller when the bullets started flying.
The man escaped unscathed and later helped police track down his would-be killers. Both men fired their weapons, which authorities have not recovered, but it’s unclear if both struck Aldridge. Taylor asked. “It’s always the innocent people that get killed, you know, it’s never the intended victims”, she added. “This isn’t a mystery”. Wade recently joined ESPN talk show, The Undefeated to speak on the ongoing violence in the city of Chicago and how he could help bring awareness.
As violence in the city reaches historic levels, the police department has been calling on lawmakers in Springfield to crack down on criminals with gun convictions. “It just hurts to hear kids saying they want their mom, and their mom won’t be in their lives anymore”. “African-Americans will VOTE TRUMP!”

“As far as what Mr. Trump said”. “Too soon, too soon, she was taken away from us”.
