Samsung updates smartwatch with Global Positioning System, calls for help

Samsung launched its Gear S3 Frontier and Gear S3 Classic smartwatches at a pre-IFA 2016 keynote event in Berlin, Germany.

For the difference between the two, the S3 Frontier is the only one that has LTE connection. Samsung has included Global Positioning System in both models, and one of the two Frontier variants offers LTE connectivity.

They’re larger watches than those in the Gear S2 range, with thicker casings and bigger 1.3ins (33mm) screens, and won’t be an essential upgrade for some, says The Verge.

The interface of the Samsung Gear S3 is quite similar to the Samsung Gear S2.

With that being said, what are your thoughts about Asus ZenWatch 3 and Samsung Gear S3? But the new models feature refined designs, slightly larger displays, bigger batteries, GPS, and about 25 percent more RAM.

So what are these Samsung Gear S3 features we speak of? The Gear S3 has a 360mAh battery, 110mAh more than the Gear S2. Also, with Samsung’s partnership with Spotify, the Gear S3 supports streaming music directly on the smartwatch using Wi-Fi or LTE.

Other specifications include a dual-core 1GHz processor, Tizen wearable OS 2.3.2, 4GB of internal storage, and 768MB of RAM.

Samsung packed in an always-on 1.3-inch Super AMOLED display that is covered with a face designed specifically for smartwatches – Corning’s Gorilla Glass SR+.

Moreover, the Gear S3 makes use of standard 22mm watch bands.

The two models are noticeably more bulky than last year’s Gear S2, up from 11.4mm to 12.9mm in thickness, which might be a problem for those with thinner wrists. The company last night revealed this much awaited Smartwatch into the markets. As the names imply, the Classic is a traditional-looking device while the Frontier is more rugged and active.

This is the closest a smartwatch has ever been to a real analogue watch and I’m interested to see how well this sells around the globe when it is made available in the fall. Samsung Gear S3 comes with an IP68 rating that makes it dust and water resistant.

Just like its predecessor, the Gear S3 runs Tizen-based Wearable Platform 2.3.2, and this version introduces some new features.
