A large explosion in front of Bangkok’s Erawan shrine killed two people and injured at least 10 others at around 7pm tonight.

Royal Thai Police Lieutenant General Prawut Thawornsiri confirmed that the blast was caused by a bomb.

The BBC’s Jonathan Head, who is at the scene, says there appear to be both dead and injured, amid a huge amount of chaos.

The attack took place close to the Erawan Shrine in the capital’s central Chidlom district.
