The third instalment of the classic rom-com franchise is directed by Sharon Maguire and comes 12 years after the release of “Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason”.
After breaking up with Mark Darcy (Firth), Bridget Jones’s (Zellweger) “happily ever after” hasn’t quite gone according to plan.
Then her love life takes a turn and Bridget meets a dashing American named Jack (Dempsey), the suitor who is everything Mr. Darcy is not.
She told the Daily Mail: “I’d been staying with a friend in Los Angeles and the month before she’d been diagnosed with ALS [a neurological disease]”.
Speaking about her love triangle on the new Bridget Jones, Renee said her two men (Colin Firth and Patrick Dempsey) come along at a time when Bridget finally sees she can be OK on her own. But that’s so fleeting and it’s only for a moment in your life. In an unlikely twist she finds herself pregnant, but with one hitch…she can only be fifty percent sure of the identity of her baby’s father. The actress was busy travelling but couldn’t stay away from work for long as she started missing being in the work zone, reported ET Online.
Talking about her hiatus, Zellweger said it wasn’t the easiest decision to make because she didn’t want to leave her Hollywood career in between but she also knew it was a “now or never” moment to take a break. Zellweger describes “Bridget Jones’s Baby” as a film that’s close to reality.
Of her return, she said: “I craved the creative process again”.
