And Mourinho has indicated that the 32-year-old might have to do that – suggesting that the outcast might not even get games in the Europa League or the EFL Cup.

Mourinho, however, warned the 31-year-old that he would rather throw a youngster from United’s academy into the first team than field the ageing player. I’m not saying it’s impossible, it’s very hard.
Only last week Brendan Rodgers dismissed supposed Celtic interest in Schweinsteiger with a damning response, saying: “I need a midfielder who can run and press”.

Schweinsteiger, now training with the United academy squad, is unable to move to Major League Soccer in the U.S. or the Chinese Super League at present as their transfer windows are closed until 2017, unless he becomes a free agent.
