That’s almost 48 percent more than in the same timeframe past year, and easily surpasses the total recorded in all of 2014, when there were 2,084.

“When will enough be enough?”

Chicago Police Superintendent, Eddie Johnson is frustrated with the violence in Chicago, especially after Aldrige’s shooters being repeat offenders. “How often do we have to stand at a podium like this, demanding from our judicial and policy partners some type of resolution?”

In a case that has emerged as a talking point in the US presidential race, Darwin Sorrells Jr, 26, and Derren Sorrells, 22, are facing charges of first-degree murder and attempted murder in the death of Nykea Aldridge, a 32-year-old mother of four, police said.

Aldridge was shot and killed while pushing a baby stroller Friday afternoon in the South Side Parkway Gardens neighborhood.

The man escaped unscathed and later helped police track down his would-be killers. The Police Service of Scotland said it arrested both pilots Saturday at Glasgow Airport and both men, ages 45 and 35, would be arraigned.

Despite the tragedy, Wade’s mother spoke of hope for those who commit such crimes.

“We are now in a very, very sensitive grieving place”, Jolinda Wade said, according to ABC13. On Sunday, the Chicago police confirmed that they had arrested two brothers in connection to her shooting death.

One of the suspects had been released from prison two weeks before the murder and had six felonies on his record. He was paroled in early February. He was paroled August 12, according to the IDOC website.

Police department spokesman Anthony Guglielmi tweeted that Derren Sorrells is a “documented member of the Gangster Disciples and now on parole”.

That is not enough, Johnson said.

What we need are real solutions.

It is not the first time Dwyane Wade’s family in Chicago has been touched by gun violence. The nation’s third largest city has recorded more homicides than NY and Los Angeles combined so far this year.

Meanwhile, Presidential hopeful Donald Trump has been courting controversy by using the death of Dwyane Wade’s cousin to claim popularity among African-American voters.

Nykea Aldridge, a first cousin of National Basketball Association star Dwyane Wade, was caught in the middle of gunfire on August 27, 2016, in Chicago, and fatally shot.

“I just brought out the teddy bears to represent, you know, the children, and their memories, and the love of their mom”, said Linda Taylor, who lives near the scene of the shooting. “They are in my thoughts and prayers”.
