Paris restaurant’s refusal to serve two Muslim women sparks outrage in France
The ruling came after more than 30 French towns banned the burkini, a swimsuit which covers the whole body except for the face, hands and feet and is worn mostly by Muslim women. Hamon criticized Prime Minister Manuel Valls, a fellow Socialist, for supporting burkini bans.

Some mayors are refusing to rescind their bans, arguing that the head-to-ankle swimwear could disrupt public order after a summer marred by Islamic extremist attacks.
“We are not at war with Islam. the French republic is welcoming (to Muslims), we are protecting them against discrimination”, he told BFMTV.
“We don’t want to be served by racists”, one of them said.
Cazeneuve, speaking to reporters, said a “strong and calm” relationship with Muslims is “urgent and particularly necessary”.
The latest case in point is the country’s freakish ban, recently lifted, then (in some areas) re-enforced, on the so-called “burkini” – the full-body swimsuit worn by many conservative Muslim women in respect of traditional religious codes of modesty.
In a nation that has been rocked with gruesome terror attacks, some say they can understand the fear but there are several better way to deal with terror than complete bans on women’s clothing. “This positive development will put an end to the repulsive saga of the burkini”, he said.
The 1905 constitution aims to separate Church and state.
Muslim leaders and politicians in France have met Interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve to discuss the future of Islam in the country. “Current laws clearly lay out France’s secularism”.
Hakim El Karoui, a secular Muslim who participated in Monday’s talks, said that the choice of Chevenement was “clumsiness at the very least”.
“If they are given the financial means, Muslim institutions can strengthen their role in the prevention of radicalisation”, said Kbibech. Outrage reached a new peak last week when police in Nice stood over a woman in a turquoise burkini and-as shown in a series of photographs that quickly went viral-ordered her to remove her tunic. She added that they wanted to “express their solidarity with wear the burkini but can not swim”.

The court’s suspension of the ban in the town of Villeneuve-Loubet established a legal precedent for other towns to do the same.
