The report noted that “in Apple Music’s first major test, the answer is a qualified yes”.

Dr. Dre is at the top of the British Albums chart with his album Compton, inspired by the story of his original group, N.W.A., Straight Outta Compton.

Marvin Gaye is Puth’s second UK Number 1, following his feature on Wiz Khalifa’s Fast & Furious 7 tribute track See You Again, which topped the chart for two weeks in April/May. According to a statement released by Apple, it has been revealed that the album has been streamed an impressive 25 million times since its opening week. Launched on June 30, Apple Music is in a precarious position in a highly-competitive music streaming market that involves music industry giants like Spotify, Rhapsody, Google Play, and Pandora.

“I gotta be honest, it freaked me out when I met him”, Dr. Dre said. Apple also reported Compton sold half a million downloads on iTunes. Since then, the new Dr. Dre album has enjoyed heavy promotion through iTunes and Apple Music. It beat off Turner’s “Positive Songs For Negative People” to the top of the Official UK Album Chart by over 28,000 combined chart sales.
