Explosion in Philippine president’s home city kills 10-president spokesman
The explosion comes after the national police force thwarted an assassination plot against President Rodrigo Duterte, who usually flies home to Davao City every weekend.

At least nine people were killed and almost 30 others injured in a powerful explosion which rocked a night market late Friday in Davao City, hometown of Philippine president, police and media reports said.
The cause of the explosion remains unknown as of this posting but two persons were seen injured and taken by stretchers towards a waiting ambulance.
A police official said at least 30 people had been hospitalised.
Witnesses have said they heard the loud bang, followed by smoke, ring across the city about 10.15pm local time.
They were rushed to the San Pedro Hospital and the Southern Philippines Medical Center for treatment.
