Trouble at Liverpool: Daniel Sturridge not happy

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is trying to keep the peace with Daniel Sturridge, after the frustrated striker complained about being played out of position.

‘I don’t want to play Daniel as a wide player, ‘ said Klopp.

“In the modern day game you have to try and be flexible but everyone knows my best position”. “Obviously there’s no such thing as a free game because you want to win and get through, but this is as close as it gets for us”, said Clough, who spent two and a half years with the Anfield club between 1993 and 1996. I am on autopilot there.

The modest talk from Klopp is a clear indication of just where we are in the season – it’s far too early to start judging players or the team as a whole after just a few matches. That’s how football works and it’s not a fixed position, stay outside and wait until you get the ball, especially not in Daniel’s case. “We can’t just rely on Sadio but he’s been outstanding for us and he gives us something different”. You have to worry about different things. “I’m a centre-forward”, England global Sturridge said, quoted by several national newspapers. While I did say that having him play deep doesn’t reveal his best qualities, I wasn’t going as far as some fans who suggested Divock Origi should now be our best striker and Sturridge doesn’t work for our team.

He finished by denying rumours that players had expressed unhappiness with their positions directly to him.

“I can not give all players together the opportunity to play”.

Liverpool forward Daniel Sturridge has spoken of his discomfort at being deployed on the flanks by manager Jurgen Klopp.

Despite the suggestion of frustration from Sturridge, Klopp has said any claims of unrest from the forward are greatly exaggerated.

Sturridge signed for Liverpool from Chelsea in 2013 and has since scored 43 goals in 70 Premier League appearances.

“That’s absolutely no problem”.

“It was quite warm and humid so for both teams it was not easy, but we did what we had to do and that’s good”.

“We did a lot of good things, but at the end we made the wrong decisions”.
