Dodgers expected to recall Yasiel Puig this weekend
The Los Angeles Dodgers acquired Josh Reddick, along with Rich Hill, at the trade deadline and that pushed Puig to the minors. It was reported last week that the Dodgers were unlikely to bring him back up this season and he was subsequently claimed off waivers by a mystery team Tuesday. A start on Saturday or Sunday could put Kershaw in line for a return to the majors next weekend when the Dodgers face the Marlins in Miami.

With a lack of production, lingering injuries and attitude issues as the flawless recipe, the Los Angeles Dodgers demoted outfielder Yasiel Puig to Triple-A in early August. It helps that Puig has been tearing it up at Triple-A Oklahoma City since being sent down a level.
Kershaw, who hasn’t pitched since June 26 because of a herniated disk in his lower back, will begin a rehab assignment this weekend, president of baseball operations Andrew Friedman told reporters Thursday. He has been on a ear in Triple-A though, slashing.348/.400/.594 with a.431 wOBA through 75 plate appearances.

A three-time Cy Young victor, Kershaw (11-2, 1.79 ERA) still needs to work on his stamina, but his return to the Dodgers rotation comes at a ideal time.
