The Browns signed veteran defensive end Stephen Paea, he announced Friday morning on Twitter.

The Browns’ defensive front had lacked depth since the loss of Desmond Bryant to a torn pectoral muscle in July. He finished 2015 with 19 tackles and 1.5 sacks before ending the season on injured reserve with a toe injury.

Paea joined the Redskins last year after spending four years with the Bears.

On the last day of April’s draft, the Browns traded for another former second-round pick, cornerback Jamar Taylor, who had been a bust with the Miami Dolphins.

End result? The ‘Skins cut Paea on August 30, mere days prior to the opening week of the season. In four years with the Bears, Paea started 40 games and logged 12 sacks.

His 47 total pressures were topped by only Ndamukong Suh and Kyle Williams among defensive tackles, with his 11 hits also tied for third best in the league among defensive tackles.your textThe risky side of Washington’s investment in Paea is that he is somewhat of a one-season wonder, exploding in terms of productivity in his contract year.
