Teddy Bridgewater makes statement, ‘My objective will not be denied’
The Minnesota Vikings’ worst fears were confirmed on Tuesday night, as quarterback Teddy Bridgewater’s MRI revealed a dislocated left knee and a torn ACL, ending his 2016 season less than two weeks before it was supposed to begin. Currently Jordy Nelson and Kelvin Benjamin are returning from similar injuries suffered a year ago at relatively the same time frame, and both are set to start Week 1 for their respective teams.

Cornerback Captain Munnerlyn was in a group of about seven players who went to the hospital where Bridgewater was taken by ambulance so they could visit their teammate.
“Teddy’s such a great kid”, Zimmer said. “I love this kid, honestly. People think that you are desperate, and we are not going to do something that in my estimation, and talking with Coach Zim (Mike Zimmer) and our ownership, that puts us in a situation where we jeopardize the future of this franchise”. We’re not sure when, and we’re not sure how, but if Rick Spielman says that something’s going to happen, there’s a pretty good chance that it will. Sugarman said Bridgewater is expected to make a full recovery after a “significant” rehabilitation and will have surgery in the coming days.
“I told you there was nothing to worry about; sometimes you’ve just got to trust me”, Zimmer said. “He’s done a phenomenal job”. The team has to determine whether to pick up Bridgewater’s fifth-year option next May; the Vikings could exercise the option and still release Bridgewater with no penalty before the third day of the 2018 league year. Shaun Hill is neither Favre nor Brady, and I doubt Joel Stave will emulate either of them, but assuming the Vikings sign someone, maybe he will have a renaissance.
Bridgewater missed the second preseason game with a sore shoulder, but was very sharp Sunday against San Diego. “By that I mean, people are asking for some insane things, people think that you”re desperate, and we”re not going to do something that “ in my estimation and talking with Coach Zim and our ownership “ it puts us in a situation where we jeopardize the future of this franchise.”.
“This is about the team”.
Zimmer said he will continue to coach the way he always has, noting that “things can change fast in the National Football League”. “We all feel bad if it is real significant for Teddy”. But this is about the team.
