Two students hit after getting off bus
Video captured by a camera mounted on the side of the school bus showed the middle school student standing up shortly after being knocked to the ground.

Recently released videos from a Texas school district shows a terrifying reminder to stay alert at the wheel.
On Monday, Amy McFadden’s 12-year-old son was hit in the crosswalk at the intersection of South First Street and St. Elmo Road in South Austin.
There’s nothing worse than that phone call where all you can hear are sirens and a child crying.
“I kept shaking because it’s the most disgusting thing to watch”, said McFadden. He was doing what we all do. Some of the incidents have even included students getting hit by drivers not obeying the law. A truck is seen slamming into a 17-year-old student crossing in front of the school bus, which was flashing its stop lights and sign at the time. It was just so intense.
“Yeah, that’s how I remember it”, said witness Michael Masue. A day later, a 17-year-old student was struck by a teen driver.
“She was mortified. She thought she killed him”. “She came out of the vehicle crying and freaking out, but I tried to reassure her he seemed OK at the time”.
The driver told police she didn’t know she was required to stop.
“She didn’t know that you had to stop for the bus stop coming from the opposite way”, he said.
“I hope it will be a wake-up call to more people”, Masue said.

Neither of the students sustained serious injury, but the incidents raise concerns about inattentive and/or irresponsible drives negotiating around school buses while children are exiting. In 2015, there were 147 citations for passing stopped school buses, according to the Police Department.
