The $30 billion is in addition to $32 billion that Japan pledged to Africa over a five-year period at the last TICAD meeting in 2013.

President Uhuru Kenyatta says he is confident that the Kenya-Japan relationship will spur investment in the country and Africa at large.
President Kenyatta also briefed President Mugabe on the threat caused by terrorists in Kenya and the East African region and the measures being taken to end the threat.

“Japan will nurture, without any pressure, (the area covering Asia to Africa) into a place that puts importance on the rule of law and a market economy”, he said.
Mugabe commended Kenya for hosting a successful TICAD and invited Kenyatta to visit Zimbabwe, the statement said.
