The France global was expected to be heading to Everton yesterday after they reached a £30million deal with Newcastle, with personal terms also said to have been agreed.
The Frenchman, however, has agreed a transfer to Tottenham and is now travelling to England to undergo medical with the North London club ahead of signing a contract with the Spurs.
Farhad Moshiri has allegedly said Everton ended their interest in signing Moussa Sissoko as “keeping James McCarthy was a priority”.
“It is true that Wednesday was rather quick, and it happened in the last hours, but the bottom line is this is done, I have finalised my transfer to Tottenham”. Some fans turned on Sissoko last season as his form dipped and the club were relegated, but he proved at Euro 2016 that he is still a top player.
France under-21 worldwide Nkoudou joined Marseille from Nantes in a £1m deal last summer and scored five goals in 28 Ligue 1 appearances last season.
Sissoko took to Twitter to confirm that his move went through shortly before the 11pm deadline with the midfielder sharing a photo of him posing with the Tottenham shirt.
Sissoko said: “I’m very happy, very proud to be here. There were a lot of emotions”. And in 2014? “When I was young, Arsenal was my favorite club”. The Ireland worldwide had enjoyed regular football at both Wigan and Everton under his mentor Roberto Martinez who is now managing the Belgian national team.
“Away from the pitch he’s a very quiet guy but he is amusing too. At the moment he is maybe a bit shy but that’s normal because it’s new for him”.
