Serena Williams may be an Olympic gold medalist, the No. 1 tennis player in the world, and just an all around badass – but she’s also well on her way to becoming an accomplished dancer!
She said: “I looked up and was like, “Oh s***!” “I feel like I made a lot of errors but there’s nothing I can do about that now”. And one of the things that I say is that.I always keep climbing, and that’s something that really resonates with me. “You want to be out there and play the game you want to play”.
Williams said: “Usually when people are there, I try to play better, especially if they’re famous and they’re doing so great at their job”.
Williams arrived at the year’s final grand slam with concerns swirling around a sore shoulder that hampered her at the Rio Olympics and forced her to pull out of a tournament in Cincinnati. Williams is aiming for her 23rd Grand Slam title to surpass Steffi Graf and sixth U.S. Open crown to pass Chris Evert, both Open era records.
She’s worked her way around an injured right shoulder that requires constant treatment, still hitting 121 miles per hour on her serve and firing 13 aces – including three of her first four points. “I would like to take one more step, several more steps”.
“My coach asks me before each tournament who do you think is going to win; and I’m like “I’m still in the tournament, you know”. Next, the pro athlete goes into a dance routine with different styles such as dance, hip-hop and twerking with choreographers Will “Willdabeast” Adams and Janelle Ginestra.
Williams had twerked her way through an appearance in Beyonce’s “Sorry” video, and on Thursday the latter – who has been nominated for more Grammy awards than any woman in history, and won 20 – appeared in Williams’ box alongside husband Jay Z.
On Sunday, Beyonce had a headline-making performance of a medley of songs from Lemonade at the 2016 MTV Video Music Awards.
