Atsu began his career at Portuguese giants Porto and spent time on loan at Rio Ave before Chelsea snapped him up in the summer of 2013.

Atsu could make his debut for Newcastle when they travel to Derby after the global break.

Atsu, who has found it hard to break into his parent club, Chelsea, since joining two seasons ago from Porto is elated to have made it to the huge north-east English side. “It’s a very big club”.

Atsu boasts of 44 caps for Ghana and has scored nine goals in the process.

Daryl Murphy, Dwight Gayle and Christian Atsu all add quality to the attack, and after the additions of Mo Diame, Isaac Hayden and Matt Ritchie in the middle, Newcastle possess one of the best squads the Championship has ever seen. He was part of the Black Stars squad that represented Ghana at the 2014 Fifa World Cup in Brazil.

“The fans here really love football so much and I can’t wait to play at this stadium in front of the fans”.
