Hermine looks to continue to weaken to a tropical depression across the Mid-Atlantic waters near the eastern Seaboard on Sunday.

Governor Rick Scott had earlier declared a state of emergency for 51 counties across the state.

Videos and pictures shared on social media showed damaged streets near the landfall point and downed trees throughout much of the state.

Heavier rain will stay to the south and east – closer to the shore. He said 6,000 National Guardsmen were poised to mobilize for the storm’s aftermath. The governors of Georgia and North Carolina also declared emergencies.

In Mitchell County, State Route 270 was blocked due to a tree down across the road and a traffic crash.
