FC Bayern München goalkeeper Manuel Neuer has been named Germany’s new captain by head coach Joachim Low.

“We’ve had talks. I don’t have a problem with Jose Mourinho”.

The longtime Bayern Munich and German national team star didn’t rule out a future move to MLS, calling it “naturally an option”.

He said: “The transfer window is closed in the United States of America so I’m not going there now”. “My dream remains to play for United”.

He added: “I love standing on the pitch too much to focus on anything else – if I want to be a coach or something”.

“In the a year ago, things went well (at Man Utd) until I was banned (from the first-team)”.

“We’ve got to see what the situation is”.

One surprise name in the squad in Sadiq El-Fitouri, the 21-year-old defender signed from Salford City. I don’t think of planning ahead, I like to live and enjoy the moment. It’s not all about highs, there are also lows but I can deal with it.

“Football is a hard business”, he summarised.

Max Meyer and a Paulus Arajuuri own goal ensured the final scoreline in front of just over 30,000 fans with the world champions unable to make more of their chances and just going through the motions at times. “I’m really looking forward to the evening”.

“It’s a great honour for me. While the responsibility will continue to be shared across many shoulders, I expect and I know that the leading players will work for the team, on and off the field”. “I haven’t played [this season], so I don’t know how the lungs will hold up”.

“Philipp Lahm did a great job, as did Bastian, and I hope I can follow in their footsteps”, said Neuer, after Schweinsteiger played his final global in Wednesday’s 2-0 friendly win over Finland.
