Tim Tebow works out for Major League Baseball scouts

Scouts from 28 of the 30 major-league teams were there, and he received mixed reviews.

“The Bluefish welcome Tim with open arms”, Bluefish General Manager Jamie Toole said in a statement. “He’s an athlete. He’s won the Heisman”. He enjoyed a successful run as a quarterback at the University of Florida from 2006 to 2009, winning a pair of National Championships in 2006 and 2008 as well as the Heisman Trophy in 2007.

The Mets sent an area scout to check out Tim Tebow’s workout Tuesday, people in attendance told me, but it’s highly doubtful they sign him. Tebow, 29, has spent the year preparing to play baseball after almost a dozen-year layoff. He last played competitively as a junior in high school. The Schaumburg Boomers offered him a contract upon his announcement of trying to play professional baseball.

“The goal would be to have a career in the big leagues”, Tebow said in comments published on the Major League Baseball website.

Tebow’s athleticism will no doubt serve him well in a possible baseball career, although some commentators have pointed out that he hasn’t played organized baseball in 11 years. Those spots are interchangeable, and roster turnover is heavy. “For not having played as long as he had, I thought he did OK”. During the initial games in October, the league is made up mostly of minor leaguers. They happen to be a five-time Venezuelan Professional Baseball League champion and have also gone on to win the Caribbean Series twice.

The only teams that weren’t there were the Chicago Cubs and the Oakland Athletics to see the 255-pound, muscular Tebow run a 6.70 in the 60-yard dash. And, Tebow stands to gain selling a ton of memorabilia and media moments, should a team pick him up.

“I hope he takes it”, Amaro said. “So, I think for that reason, he probably will stay more domestically here, whether its instructional league in Florida or Arizona, or in the Arizona Fall League”.
