Tottenham swoop for Sissoko on five-year deal
The energetic midfielder has put pen to paper on a five-year deal with Tottenham and says he can not wait to achieve a career goal by playing in the Champions League.

Everton had an offer for Sissoko accepted by Newcastle United before Wednesday’s transfer deadline, but then withdrew their interest after failing to agree personal terms with the midfielder.
Moshiri suggested Everton’s eagerness to build their midfield around Republic of Ireland star James McCarthy was the primary reason why they walked away from a £30m deal with Newcastle.
On Tuesday evening Newcastle believed that, with Mike Ashley, the club’s owner, holding out for at least £30m, Sissoko would be going nowhere but 24 hours later the player had signed a five-year contract at White Hart Lane.
“Sissoko is a great player”, Moshiri said in a statement.
Spurs beat Everton to the £30million signing of Sissoko from Newcastle before Wednesday night’s transfer deadline, with the French worldwide choosing White Hart Lane due to his desire to play in the Champions League.
“Hopefully he’ll be good but on the form of last season that seems a lot of money to me”.
‘When I was young, Arsenal was my favourite club… my idol was Patrick Vieira, ‘ Sissoko said in 2014 in an interview with L’Equipe.
Nevertheless, Hugo’s influence sounds like a perfectly reasonable partial explanation as to why Sissoko would turn off his phone and leave a private Everton jet idling on an airport runway while he finalized the best gazumping in years.
Sissoko played a bunch for Euro 2016 runners up France this summer, but returned to a Newcastle team that are preparing to spend a season fighting for promotion from the Championship.
“I was only missing playing for the cup with the big ears [Champions League]”.

“I don’t really need to introduce him because we all know his strengths, he is very powerful and I think he is a different profile of player for us, so he will give us another option offensively”.
