Dallas Cowboys now unwilling to part ways with Dak Prescott
If the Cowboys place Romo on injured reserve, the earliest he could return would be for a November 6 game against the Cleveland Browns, which is just over nine weeks from now.

Garrett said Saturday that Romo sustained a broken bone in his back when he was hit from behind by Seattle’s Cliff Avrill and slid awkwardly on the third play of a preseason game.
Garrett then threw a jab at people claiming they know the timetable for Romo, adding, “That’s not the world we live in”.
Dallas Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones told Sports Illustrated’s Peter King that he wouldn’t rule out rookie Dak Prescott keeping the team’s starting quarterback job even after Tony Romo returns from injury. Prescott has taken the National Football League by storm, whether it be with his spectacular play or being named the Dallas Cowboys’ starter after an injury to Tony Romo. The Seahawks won 27-17.
Jameil Showers will likely play the entire game as he fights to convince Dallas he deserves a spot on the 53-man roster himself. The Cowboys have named Prescott the starter. He’ll be out the first six weeks at least. Since training camp started, the Cowboys have carried only three quarterbacks on their roster, which has given their two younger ones more repetitions in practices and games. The others were guard Mike McQueen, centre Dan Buchholz and receivers Richard Mullaney and Rodney Smith. “And I think he’s ready for it”. With numerous spots already locked and decided, there are still those who need a good showing this final week of the preseason to impress the coaching staff of the Cowboys to stay on the roster for the time being. Tony Romo could be out until Week 8 and there is uncertainty surrounding rookie Dak Prescott.

As a member of the St. Louis Rams in 2014, he appeared in 10 games and started eight of them after Sam Bradford went down with a season-ending ACL injury. But it may be we keep him on the roster. This time, a fracture to his back only forced the quarterback to stay out for one full game and he ended up returning in week 10. “We’ve really done a lot of research on this, and I think this was a very freak accident”. Right now, they aren’t sure. With how bad the Cowboys looked without Romo last season, it is understandable if Dallas wants to have him for as many games as possible. Houston will look to give the Cowboys fits here who are certainly going to be reeling after the loss of Tony Romo and now that Dak Prescott is the guy behind center we will surely see limited snaps out of him tonight so that lightning doesn’t strike twice.
