Record GCSE results spark celebrations in Cumbria

Villers High School in Southall has seen another fantastic year of results with 68% achieving C or better in maths, with 25% getting A* or A grades.

Amongst other top headlines 96 per cent of pupils received an A* to C in both Mathematics and English.

Mark Leyden and Mark Potts both achieved 10 A* grades and one A, closely followed by Natasha Partridge with nine A*s an A and a B.

Headteacher Alan Gray said: “A significant number of students gained straight A* and A grades under the new-style qualifications”.

Lily-Pegg Burge, Nick Moodey and Amy Bradd also achieved a raft of A* and A grades.

William Bradford Academy’s last-ever group of students to receive their GCSE results are celebrating after scoring grade successes once again.

Budehaven Community School broke its own records for its English and maths results.

Over half of the girls achieved A* – B in at least six subjects and numerous subjects, including English, history, biology, religious studies and art and design recorded more than 70% of all papers at A* – B grades.

Hope Valley College students have celebrated another year of GCSE success.

The academy says results in French are “particularly pleasing” with 89% of students gaining at least a grade C and 89% making expected progress, with 22% exceeding their target.

Our year 11 students worked very hard sitting multiple sets of mock examinations and often staying late on a Friday night to work with their teachers.
