Brothers, Derren Sorells, 22 and Darwin Sorells, 26, were both charged with one count of first degree murder and one count of attempted first degree murder.
According to police, the brothers’ intended target was a for-hire driver who had entered their neighborhood to drop off his passengers and had “exchanged looks” with them.
A visibly angry Eddie Johnson, the city’s police superintendent, said the case underscored the need to keep violent criminals behind bars longer.
Numerous neighborhoods on the city’s South and West sides where the violence is concentrated struggle with gang membership, high unemployment and poverty.
August has been Chicago’s most violent month Chicago in twenty years.
Since the incident, Wade sent out a tweet, where he called for an end to these senseless shootings.

He first posted, “Dwyane Wade’s cousin was just shot and killed walking her baby in Chicago”.
Indiana Gov. Mike Pence is sidestepping questions about the flow of guns into IL from his state as the USA presidential campaign delves into the issue of Chicago violence. Four kids lost their mom for no reason. #EnoughIsEnough” as well as “The city of Chicago is hurting. How many of their names do we know? Not for me and my family but for the future of our world. The YOUTH!” In a following tweet, he added: “These young kids are screaming for help!

Trump issued a followup tweet about an hour later, saying Wade and his family were “in my thoughts and prayers”. Her parents, sister, nieces and nephews wept as they spoke about the woman they said was a gifted writer and “fighter of the family”. On Saturday Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump said in a campaign speech that the shooting illustrated why black voters would rally behind him, calling it an example of violence that Democrats have failed to address.
Aldridge was later pronounced dead at Stroger Hospital. She was near the school because she planned to register some of her four children, police said. “It isn’t noteworthy because [Aldridge has a] famous family member”, he said, referring to Wade. After all, according to the Chicago Tribune, at least 455 people have been shot to death in Chicago so far this year.
The victims included a 6-year-old girl who was drawing with sidewalk chalk when she was shot in the back with a bullet intended for rival gang members.
