Newcastle bad-boy Daryl Janmaat apologises for “stupid” red card in Swansea

Steve McClaren’s Newcastle played the entire second-half with 10 men after right-back, Janmaat, was sent off for two bookings after a tackle from behind on Montero and then pulling back the lively winger just before the break.

“We started well, got a fantastic goal”.

Steve McClaren’s version of Newcastle United has maid rapid progress in giving the fans some degree of belief that this season may be one that i worth paying attention to after all. The visitors looked powder-puff in attack and vulnerable to pace at the back.

There had already been a few scares when the opening goal went in.

Monk also hinted the row has allowed Mourinho to take the heat off his own players after their struggle to contain the likes of Jefferson Montero and Jonjo Shelvey.

Gomis touched around a desperate Tim Krul before passing home to give Swans their early lead.

Newcastle United’s naive performance in their 2-0 loss to Swansea City highlighted a hidden ignorance unearthed by their muddled point against Southampton last weekend. Especially the forwards when you know you’re going to get very little service from there on in.

But Janmaat hit the self destruct button.

Garry Monk said Newcastle used illegal tactics to try to stop dangerman Jefferson Montero and insisted the red card shown to Daryl Janmaat was absolutely right. With Montero putting in decent balls into the box, Ayew is fully expected to score and I am sure he would want to continue his goalscoring form against Newcastle. Substitute Steven Taylor replaced Moussa Sissoko.

Starting Lineups will be added in as they come available.

The impressive Gylfi Sigurdsson rattled the underside of Krul’s crossbar after the hour mark as Swansea dominated possession in a second half that bore more resemblance to a training routine than a Premier League encounter.

But Newcastle did not have the fortune of the woodwork to save them moments later. Montero crosses from the left and Ayew angles a brilliant header past Krul into the Newcastle net. A draw against Chelsea and a comfortable win over Newcastle is a great way to begin the new season and the early signs suggest the Swans can build on their eighth place finish from 2014-15. That never did, but Aleksandar Mitrovic did pick up a second caution in as many games less than two minutes after he was introduced.
