The Blues confirmed re-signing the defender for £34 million, just two years after selling him to French giants Paris St. Germain for a whopping £50 million- the highest amount ever paid for a defender.
A statement on Chelsea’s official website read, “David Luiz is a Chelsea player once more having completed a return to Stamford Bridge following two years at Paris Saint-Germain”. “I can not wait to wear the shirt and play at Stamford Bridge again”.
Chelsea also completed the signing of Spanish left back Marcos Alonso from Fiorentina for 24 million pounds, making them the Premier League’s biggest spenders on the final day.
Kante looks like he’s been marshalling the midfield for Chelsea for years whilst Batshuayi has taken his chances when presented them and that’s all you can ask from a young back-up striker.
Records tumbled in the transfer window as Premier League spending totalled 1.165 billion pounds ($1.54 billion), financial analyst Deloitte’s Sports Business Group said Thursday.
Enriched by a new £5,14 billion (N$98,9 trillion) domestic TV rights deal, 13 of the 20 Premier League clubs broke their transfer records during the two-month window, in a spree that put Europe’s other top divisions in the shade. “It is an interesting move and I hope he will help us win titles”.
The new coach said Nasri returned to preseason training “overweight” and only played him once in City’s first five games of the season, as a second-half substitute against West Ham on Sunday.
Hart, the England goalkeeper, was loaned to Italian club Torino for the rest of the season after dropping to third choice at City behind new signing Claudio Bravo and Willy Caballero under Guardiola.
Burnley were another, buying Irish midfielder Jeff Hendrick from Derby County for a reported £10mn.
