Bomb attack on Pakistan district court kills 7 people

The Pakistani military has said militants attacked a Christian colony near Peshawar, murdering one believer before four of them were killed by security forces.

“We have succeeded in our struggle and it will continue till the total elimination of terrorism”, he said while talking to the media after enquiring after those injured in the suicide attack at District courts of Mardan.

This was second attack on Pakistan’s legal community. “Besides this, we rescued 52 injured, including lawyers, police personnel and civilians from the spot”, Haris Habib, chief rescue officer in the city of Mardan in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, where the blasts took place, told Reuters.

In the predawn attack in the same province, terrorists struck the colony near Warsak Dam, just north of Peshawar, and killed one Christian security guard. All four terrorists were killed during the encounter.

Five persons including two Frontier Corps personnel, one policeman and two civilian guards were injured in the attack. “The security forces, police and the people were on the same page for the establishment of peace and elimination of terrorism from the country”, he added.

In the past, Pakistan has accused Afghan nationals for various attacks.

However, nor further elaboration has been made as the authorities claim that the body parts of the attacker have been sent for DNA test. Local witnesses saw police marksmen deployed at rooftops in the surroundings while police and army launched a combing operation in the area.
