Lester Holt, Chris Wallace among presidential debate moderators

Since GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump has been tough on the issue of illegal immigration and believes that global warming is a hoax, it is doubtful that a moderator who holds such opposing views will be fair and balanced.

Aside from Raddatz, who moderated a presidential debate on her own in 2012, this year will be the first time for the other three journalists. “Personally, I’m excited. I’m also excited because I will be the first FOX reporter to ever moderate a presidential debate so I think that’s quite a statement for our news organization”. All three presidential debate moderators in the last election – Jim Lehrer, Bob Schieffer and Crowley – have left regular television work, providing an open door for a new round of hosts.

The list of presidential debate moderators is here, via Kyle Blaine of BuzzFeed News. The VP debate will take place in Farmville, Virginia on the campus of Longwood University.

Fox News host Chris Wallace will moderate the third debate, on October 19 at the University of Nevada-Las Vegas.

The commission announced Holt, NBC’s first African American anchor, will moderate the opening debate on September 26; Raddatz and Cooper will jointly moderate the CNN town hall debate on October 9; and Wallace will preside over the final debate on October 19. He says he might seek to negotiate some details, fueling speculation he could choose to skip one or all of the debates. This debate will take the form of a town hall meeting, where half of the questions will be posed directly by participants.

CBS’s Elaine Quijano, who is of Filipino descent, will moderate the vice presidential debate.

Since Fox News began in 1996, eleven of the 19 moderators slots have been held by PBS. Both the Trump and Clinton camps had wrangled in recent weeks over what could be the decisive moment of voter’s decision in this election.

(That never happens. They always, always tilt left.) Wallace is the cleanup hitter, anchoring the third presidential debate on October 19 at the University of Nevada-Las Vegas.

CNN’s Anderson Cooper, ABC News’ Martha Raddatz and Fox News’ Chris Wallace are set to moderate the second and third face-offs between the Democratic and Republican candidates.

Another survey, released this week, from USA Today / Suffolk University indicated Hillary Clinton continued to maintain a 7 point lead over Trump, similar to what she experienced after the Democratic National Convention.

The commission said that the formats for the debates are meant to build on the ones introduced in 2012, which focused big blocks of time on the nation’s major domestic and foreign issues.
