Mr Hickey was yesterday released from Bangu Prison in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil after being held there for almost two weeks since his arrest during the Olympics.
“I would like to thank the prison authorities for their kindness they have shown to me”.
When asked if he meant to fight the allegations against him Mr Hickey said: “100 per cent, that’s why you see my lawyers here with me”.
In detail, Mr. Hickey was being held in relation to alleged mis-selling of tickets for the Olympic Games.
The OCI President was brought to hospital after being arrested and before he was placed in prison.
Mr Hickey insists there’s no substantive proof of wrongdoing on his part.
While Kevin Mallon was released on Saturday, Aug. 27, Patrick Hickey left jail on Tuesday, Aug. 30.

“The family has been re-assured that the Minister and the Department of Foreign Affairs are doing everything in their power to provide all necessary consular support to Mr Hickey at this time”, the statement adds.
