Germany will miss ‘great lad’ Schweinsteiger – Ozil

Although many have criticised Manchester United’s treatment of the Bayern Munich and Germany legend in recent weeks, Schweinsteiger himself has remained professional throughout.

He insists he has not played the last game of his career at the highest level, though, despite a hard situation at United which he is intent on resolving positively before thinking of the next step, which could be a move to Major League Soccer.

“My dream is to play for Manchester United”, the 32-year-old told reporters at a Germany news conference on Tuesday, reflecting on his bad luck with injuries last season.

Mourinho said last week it would be “very difficult” but not impossible for Schweinsteiger to feature under him for United this season.

Bastian Schweinsteiger played his final match for Germany on Wednesday evening and team-mate Mesut Ozil thinks the national side will miss their captain. We’ve talked a lot together, sometimes about things not regarding football and his authentic, his open and his honest manner has impressed me every time.

“I am more mature now and know how to deal with certain situations in football”. We will have to see what happens in September. It’s a respectful dialogue.

A decision which, according to the player, has not damage the personal relationship between manager and footballer.

Sporting are believed to be keen to sign the veteran midfielder as a potential replacement for Adrien Silva, who’s being linked with a €25m move to Premier League champions Leicester City. “I could still help Manchester United if given the chance”. Changes can be made to a 25-man squad during the January transfer window. That’s why it’s not possible now.

Schweinsteiger discussed his future whilst on global duty, saying that he would consider a move to MLS in the future but he has no problem with Mourinho and still dreams of playing for United.
