Media persons told the SSP that Mann had arrived four hours late in Thursday’s rally and was disappointed after finding a “thin gathering” awaiting him.
The complaint said Mr. Mann allegedly instigated AAP volunteers against scribes present at the rally and they manhandled them and even damaged a camera belonging to one of them.
Mann even used the word “paid media” which hurt the feeling of journalists, it said.
The police said the case was registered on the complaint of media persons that was received on Friday. After the incident, Congress activists had burnt an effigy of Mann at Bassi Pathana.
According to Mr. Jaswant Singh Rana, President and Mr Barinder Singh Rawat, General Secretary, Chandigarh Press Club, it is also demanded from AAP Supermo Mr Arvind Kejriwal to take a strict action him so that Bhagwant Mann should not indulge in such activities. Mediapersons as per invitation to the rally had reached around 11 AM to cover the event.
“Targeting the print media, the Sangrur MP had yesterday asked volunteers not to read newspapers, alleging influence of money in publication of news”.
