Bastian Schweinsteiger is still hoping to play for Manchester United this season
Mourinho has insisted that it will be “very difficult” for Schweinsteiger to break back into his first-team plans this season.

Emre Can has paid tribute to Bastian Schweinsteiger for a long and successful Germany career.
Schweinsteiger does intend to carrying on playing though, beyond Wednesday night’s worldwide between Germany and Finland.
“I have a contract with United until 2018 and it’s my dream to run out there again”, he said. I have to wait and see now how it goes in September and October and how it develops.
But the 32-year-old World Cup victor dug in his heels and told Mourinho he would not go.
However, despite the fact that Manchester United shockingly refused to even acknowledge the German legend’s global retirement on any of their social media accounts, it seems as if things may be finally about to take a turn for the better.
Manchester United midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger has expressed his desire to continue playing for the Old Trafford club this season, despite being snubbed by new manager Jose Mourinho.
The 32-year-old, part of the 2014 World Cup-winning squad, is fourth on the all-time list of appearances for Germany. “I will be pleased to see every fan at the game, the atmosphere and singing the anthem”.
Schweinsteiger was today named in Manchester United’s 25 man squad, but one shouldn’t read too much into that, as Jose Mourinho’s views on the German are unlikely to have changed.
“I don’t know how many minutes I’ll play. The USA is certainly an option, should it come to that”, said Schweinsteiger.
“The transfer window [MSL] has already closed, so there’s nothing there”, he said. But I also know what I want.

“I think as long as I feel good and am able to perform on a high level I will keep playing because I love football so much”.
