Now Samsung’s plans for the super-premium smartphone are being delayed after several reports from customers that the device “exploded” while charging.

Ltd. SSNLF has announced that shipments of its recently released phablet, the Galaxy Note 7, are being halted so that the company can conduct additional quality tests for their product.

Samsung did not comment on what problem it was trying to address or whether other markets were affected besides South Korea.

In July, Samsung reported its most profitable quarter in two years, thanks to Galaxy S7 sales.

These hiccups come just a week before fierce rival Apple launches its new faster-running iPhone 7 and Apple Watch 2 on Wednesday 7 September.

Samsung, which has suspended the phone’s shipments since early this week, has tentatively concluded that the faulty batteries may have caused the accidents. We will share the findings as soon as possible.

Samsung only provided a brief statement to Reuters regarding the delays.

Samsung launched the Note 7 on August 19 in some markets, including South Korea and the U.S.

Any way you look at it, the development isn’t good news for Samsung.

Thus far, explosions have been reported on the phones using the ITM battery pack. According to the Yonhap News Agency, Samsung is also in contact with USA carriers, which have embraced the Galaxy Note 7 with open arms and began selling the smartphone in late August. The Galaxy Note 7 has gotten rave reviews from tech sites and mainstream media as well and Samsung has done a ton to improve the quality of their devices and software.

Even before the issue of battery explosions emerged, supplies were not keeping up with higher-than-expected demand.
