“Star Trek” celebrated its 50th anniversary this year, and a convention in New York City gave fans a chance to remember great moments while looking forward to the future.
Also in attendance was Adam Nimoy, the son of late actor Leonard Nimoy who is best known for playing Spock in the franchise.
Star Trek: Missions kicked off at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center on Friday and runs through Sunday. There’s also a tour of recreated set pieces from Star Trek: The Original Series, featuring the bridge and the transporter console from the original U.S.S. Enterprise.
The complete Star Trek catalogue is available on CraveTV while Space will be the exclusive Canadian broadcaster of new series Star Trek: Discovery in 2017.
Because they are Forever stamps, they will “live long and prosper”, and will always be valid for mailing First Class letters, regardless of the current postal rate. NASA even has an entire page on its website devoted to Star Trek!

The release of the stamp falls nearly 50 years after the television series premiered September 8, 1966. Billed as the “ultimate destination for Star Trek fans”, the weekend-long event offers all the trappings of a modern fan convention including celebrity meet-and-greets, homemade costumes, and, of course, merchandise. “Families have passed on their love of Star Trek to children and grandchildren, and the new entertainment has brought in those new fans”.
