General Motors India Recalls 22000 Units Of Chevrolet Cruze

The company, however, stated that the defect has resulted in some Cruze sedans experiencing loss of ignition or stalled engine at low speeds.

The Indian arm of American auto maker, General Motors India, has called for a voluntary product recall of 22,000 units of its popular sedan, Chevrolet Cruze. Chevrolet Cruze vehicles manufactured between 2009 and 2011 have been affected by the recall.

The company is also working on providing the customers with the option of pick up and drop to a residential address. All inspection, fix and replacement will be done free of cost for the customer at all GM India service centres in the country.

Markus Sternberg, Sale After Vice President of General Motors India said that This is an intentional review and to the extent we know, does not influence the goodness of the vehicle but rather we need to ensure that our clients encounter the right execution from their vehicles. The company claims that the inspection, repairs and replacement, as per requirement, will be done within a time span of one hour.

The Chevrolet Cruze is powered by a 2.0-litre diesel mill that puts out 166PS of power and 360Nm of peak torque. On the price front, Chevrolet retails the Cruze at Rs 13.95 lakh for the base LT variant, Rs 16.43 lakh for the LTZ manual and Rs 17.46 lakh for the top-spec LTZ automatic (all prices are ex-showroom, New Delhi).
