The retired neurosurgeon and former USA presidential candidate was speaking with CNN in front of his childhood home about Donald Trump’s visit to the city when a look of shock blanketed his face.
During what appeared to be a serious interview about the black community of Detroit on Saturday, Ben Carson awkwardly walked off camera midway through in search of his luggage.
“You get to choose the school of your choice”, said Carson, arguing that Trump supports a voucher system that will allow families to send their children to better schools if the ones in their neighborhoods are underperforming.
Carson also said the Democratic Party has “explaining to do”, noting it’s been “in charge of our cities for a long time”.
Dr. Ben Carson, a Trump supporter, said Sunday on “Fox News Sunday” that the former president outlined in his widely praised 1995 “State of the Union” address a series of policies that are a near carbon copy of Trump’s current proposals.
A group of community and religious leaders staged a five-block protest march to Great Faith Ministries International Church, where Mr. Trump will attend a service and sit for the interview.
In October 2015, Carson told CNN he believed that gun control helped cause the holocaust in Germany.
Donald Trump will need Carson’s advice until election day, despite Trump’s numerous insults lobbed at the former neurosurgeon. A guy who will randomly wander off from a live national television interview to go find his bags.
He said he’s had “many discussions” with Trump about the issue.
