Consequently, when news of Henrikh Mkhitaryan thigh injury emerged last Wednesday, United fans immediately became anxious.

Featuring in just over an hour’s worth of United’s opening three victories, Mkhitaryan has yet to bed into Mourinho’s side with Juan Mata preferred in the victories over Bournemouth, Southampton and Hull City.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan has taken to social media to reassure Manchester United fans about the injury he picked up while on global duty with Armenia.

United play rivals City on September 10.

He picked up the knock in a collision with Marek Suchy during the first-half and was taken off the pitch as a result. I hope he will be OK and it will not be so hard for him and he will not miss too many days. Unfortunately, the results are not encouraging. Tests later revealed muscle damage in his left thigh. “This is football and I will not think about it much more”.

“Such injuries usually require a week to 10 days to heal, which means that Mkhitaryan will miss the Denmark-Armenia match on September 4”.

The midfielder took to Twitter to confirm he had returned to Manchester for treatment saying “My dear fans, I appreciate much that you worry about me, thank you!”
