Mets shortstop Asdrubal Cabrera left Sunday’s game against the Phillies in the first inning with what the team described as a sore left knee. Bryant’s 35th homer capped a comeback from an earlier two-run deficit and extended the Cubs’ winning streak to four games. The Mets already were without Yoenis Cespedes (quad) and Neil Walker (stiff back), who also had hot bats coming into Sunday.

Morgan, who has dropped eight straight decisions, allowed eight hits and matched a career high with eight strikeouts in five innings. He exited with soreness in his left knee, a problem area that sidelined him twice earlier this year.
Philadelphia won Hellickson’s previous six starts.

Cabrera’s 16th homer gave him three in two days, and is tied for his second-most in a season.
Cabrera aggravated his knee in the first inning when he collided with Joseph at first base while beating out a one-out bunt single. Cabrera appeared to twist awkwardly after the collision.
The 43-year-old Colon (12-7) carried a two-hitter into the eighth and took over the team lead in wins as NY began a pivotal 10-game homestand by winning for the fifth time in its past six.
Cabrera missed time with a left knee injury earlier this month and returned from the disabled list August 19.
Jose Reyes and Cabrera each had three hits, once again providing a spark from the top two spots in the lineup since both came off the disabled list.
NY scratched out a mere four singles over the final eight innings.
Mets right-hander Robert Gsellman is scheduled to make his first major league start for NY.
“The amusing thing about it is we’re 11-11 in the month of August, so it’s hard to figure out”, Mackanin said. “He really mixed his pitches well”.
The rookie left to a nice round of applause from the crowd of 32,033, and gave way to Hansel Robles.
On a pitching staff packed with young arms, Jeremy Hellickson has been the one experienced starter Philadelphia could count on all season. The veteran catcher was acquired Thursday from the Los Angeles Dodgers in a trade for longtime Philadelphia backstop Carlos Ruiz.
Robles hit pinch-hitter Peter Bourjos with a pitch with the bases loaded, forcing in another run.
Royals 6, Red Sox 3: Eric Hosmer and Alex Gordon homered, and Ian Kennedy allowed one run through five innings for Kansas City.

Alejandro De Aza added a two-run double for the Mets, who won for the sixth time in seven games as they attempt to make a push in the bunched-up NL playoff chase. Phillies manager Pete Mackanin called it “typical Syndergaard” and for good reason – he’s 4-0 with a 1.37 ERA in four starts against the Phillies. NOTES: The Mets will promote RHP Rafael Montero from Double-A Binghamton to start Monday’s series opener against the Miami Marlins.
