China’s Xi somber on world economy, citing protectionism
Some of the behind-the-scenes images we’ve seen from the airport include the sight of USA security personnel standing on the tarmac with binoculars, surveying the surrounding area.

He said China can not expect to “pursue mercantilist policies that just advantage” itself now that China has become a more affluent, middle-income country.
The airport greeting is the ideal symbol of the loss of status the office of the U.S. President has experienced under Obama, as well as the damaged state of our relationships with China and other nations.
Chinese President Xi Jinping told Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday that the two countries should respect each other’s concerns and constructively handle their differences. They first demanded all press be removed, then eventually allowed two to accompany the US and Chinese presidents on a walk.
“We’re also setting the stage so that the next U.S. administration comes in with a relationship that is on a strong and productive footing”, Mr Obama told Mr Xi. “So China proposed that we could assign a translator to sit beside the driver, but the USA side turned down the proposal and insisted that they didn’t need the staircase provided by the airport”.
On top of that, when Obama did find his way on to a red carpet on the tarmac below there were heated altercations between USA and Chinese officials, with one Chinese official caught on video shouting: “This is our country!” The President is continuing this approach during the G20 summit, by lecturing Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan that it’s critical to “finish the job” of securing Turkey’s border with Syria.
Germany’s Chancellor Angela Merkel said Sunday she hoped Ankara would soon lift a ban on German lawmakers visiting a Turkish airbase that was imposed amid a row over the Armenian genocide. “You had members of the military engaging in treasonous acts against a democratically elected government … you now have a reaction by the Turkish government that understandably is scared and concerned”. Singapore is one of eight non-G-20 nations invited by Mr Xi to participate in the summit. I received two Mexican presidents in China. “We haven’t seen a diminishing, uh, effect on our security relations. They are working with us to defeat ISIL, and are an important partner on a whole range of security issues in the region”.
The president also said tensions always arrived when the White House negotiates how much access the USA press gets when it comes to accessing leaders overseas, Fox News reported.
Russian President Vladimir Putin on Sunday held talks with British Prime Minister Theresa May for the first time, telling her Russia wants to re-establish ties in all areas, the Kremlin said. “Despite the turbulence of political events over the last several months, we have every intention to making sure that that continues”.
Xi gave these remedies as the world economy faces great uncertainty since Britain announced its exit from the European Union and the rise of protectionism, Zhou Xiaojing, vice director of the Institute of Asian and African Development Studies of the State Council Development Research Center, told the Global Times.
Such a stance has damaged U.S. -Turkey relations, but Obama’s pledge to help find the coup plotters is an attempt to fix the rift.
