Pro-Bush super PAC spending $10M-plus on initial TV campaign

Spokesman Paul Lindsey told CBS News that the ads will begin in New Hampshire and Iowa on September 15 and go up in South Carolina the following week. It’s also the first major move by the group, which was developed by longtime Bush adviser and California ad maker Mike Murphy, to run alongside Bush’s own campaign organization, which is bound by federal fundraising limits.

Bush helped Right to Rise raise money before he decided to announce for president, but he can no longer do so now that he’s a candidate.

The spots were described to the AP as positive ads, touting his time as governor of Florida and including clips from Bush’s debate performance earlier this month.

The group, based in southern California, has spent about $200,000 on online advertising.

Right to Rise USA, which reported raising more than $100 million during the first six months of the year, will place ad buys Monday more than $10 million worth of advertising time in Iowa, New Hampshire and South Carolina, states which vote first, second, and third in the 2016 GOP primary.

That’s only the first round in a massive TV ad campaign to support the former Florida governor’s bid for the Republican nomination. The advertising will run by means of the complete of Dec.in all three states. Iowa kicks off the presidential nominating season on February 1, with the other states following close behind.
