Delhi’s ex-women’s minister arrested on a rape charge

Delhi Police today detained sacked Delhi minister Sandeep Kumar’s personal assistant after the AAP leader alleged that he was blackmailing him and threatening to destroy his public image.

Sandeep kumar, who was the only Dalit face in the Arvind Kejriwal government, was seen in the clip with two women.

BJP leader Satish Upadhyay on Thursday led a protest outside Kejriwal’s residence here over the alleged sex tape involving AAP leader Kumar.

Colonel Sehrawat has also complaint about the Delhi unit coordinator, Dilip Pandey stating that his several pictures with different women surfaces every day which can cause trouble for AAP. “When you are in public life there are standards of rectitude that everybody is supposed to adhere to, man or woman”, she said. She alleged in her complaint that the CD was made after Kumar became a minister. The woman claimed she did not know a CD had been made, they said.

The former minister was arrested on Friday night after a woman approached Sultanpuri police station in north Delhi with a complaint of sexual harassment against the former social welfare and women and child development minister following which a case was filed, reports dnaindia.com.

Speaking to local media in India, Ritu Kumar said: “My husband is innocent, I stand by him”. Police booked Sandeep under Section 376 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and other relevant Sections of the Information Technology (IT) Act.

Mocking the chief minister’s move to sack the minister, former party leader Prashant Bhushan said: ‘Wah AK Saheb, you appoint degree forgers, bribe takers as ministers and then take credit for removing them when caught!’

At a public function in Delhi on International Women’s Day a year ago Mr Kumar thanked his wife Ritu for the “sacrifices” she had made for him. He was also suspended from Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) after the scandal came to light. She also stated that she was not aware of about any video of the incident.

Although, Sandeep Kumar has maintained that he is being targeted under a “conspiracy” as he was a dalit and demanded a probe into the issue.
