One constant about Patrick Towles: “I’m a Kentucky fan”
Stoops said Towles benefited from the competition with redshirt freshman Drew Barker, who was an ESPN four-star prospect.

“I think that Patrick’s the guy he’s gonna play”, Stoops said. He totaled 303 yards on the ground as well for six touchdowns.
With Towles returning at quarterback, and a few huge recruiting classes on campus, is this the year that Kentucky breaks through to a bowl game for the first time since 2010?
Kentucky started last season 5-1 before losing its final six games by an average of 22 points.
Kentucky opens the season September 5 against Louisiana Lafayette of the Sun Belt Conference.
Towles threw for 14 touchdowns and nine interceptions.
So much for making the most of a fresh start at Kentucky.
But in the end, Towles experience won out. Sure, Stoops signed his second extension since joining the staff in 2012 midway through the season, but that was when the Wildcats still seemed like a bowl bound team.
“I’m ready to win some football games”. “He’s got the reigns, you saw that past year”.

Stoops will need to play the best quarterback available and will cut ties with Towles if he fails to find his consistency.
