Google Pixel phone: Get ready for some seriously powerful cameras

According to details shared by Android Police, which keeps a track of Google’s Android-powered products, the 4K Chromecast would be either called Chromecast Plus or Ultra. However, the Android Police report alleges that Google plans to market the devices as having being built in-house, and that both phones will be devoid of HTC branding.

Earlier, it was found out that the phones being developed by HTC were codenamed Sailfish and Marlin. Internally, the devices will share quad-core Qualcomm processors, 4GB of RAM, and 12-megapixel cameras. Google Pixel XL (aka HTC Marlin) has showed up on GeekBench mobile benchmarking website.

The new report is backed by a previous one which claimed that Google was dropping the Nexus name for its offerings.

As mentioned, the timing fits in terms of Google’s past practice with refreshing Nexus hardware. The hybrid tablet was clearly inspired by the Microsoft Surface, or any number of third-party bolt-on iPad keyboard stands.

When Google introduced its latest operating system titled Android 7.0 Nougat, smartphone users began to crave for the new device which will run the newest OS as it boasts of faster speeds and more efficient updates.

Nothing else has yet emerged from Google.

The reasons for this change in branding are unclear. It remains to be seen whether HTC will also pull all the stops when it comes to photography for these Google-branded smartphones.

In addition to the Pixel and Pixel XL, Google may also announce a 4K-enabled Chromecast, Google Home and the Google Daydream headset on October 4, Phandroid reported.

All three existing Pixel devices have used a bare aluminum shell with a square design.

The Google Pixel will come with a 5 inch display while the slightly larger Google Pixel XL will come with a 5.5-inch screen.

However, one major snippet of info worthy of its own investigation is the word that a new Chromecast device will also be revealed at the event. It is expected to feature a smaller 5-inch display with a resolution of 1920×1080 pixels.
