Her husband, Greg Jaworowski, said he took part in World Youth Day in Poland this year. It is Mother’s dedication that still inspires people to wash the wounds of the poor and nurse the destitute and dying in Kalighat.

Flowers, incense, and prayers marked the celebrations at Mother House in Kolkata, the headquarters of the Missionaries of Charity founded by St Teresa.

Before singing, Ora provided this message to the crowd: “Tonight on the eve of the canonisation of Mother Teresa, we, the daughters and sons by blood and soul, are here to honour and express our gratitude to her outstanding life and work dedicated to the poorest people of the world”.

“To meet her was a great privilege”, Sister Sculley said. He added that work in villages for the “poor and the needy” epitomised that she wasn’t just “our Mother, but of the country, the needy, poor and homeless”.

Like every human being, the cardinal said, the unborn have one basic mission in life: “to love and be loved, as Mother Teresa liked to say”.

Mother Teresa has always been considered a saint by many people around the world. She had with her a bunch of rosary beads and handed one to Curley.

In a statement here, Mr.Narayanasamy said Pope Francis yesterday canonized and made her a saint at a function in Vatican.

She said the saint’s devotion to the Blessed Mother set an example. Arciaga’s ministries have taken her to places such as the Philippines and Haiti, to teach basketball skills and basic English to children in orphanages.

She finally agreed to come in June 1988. “Where I thought it was a burden, it’s something I need to do”. She was down to earth and she loved here.

“The heroic exercise of charity and the clear proclamation of truth” were found in Mother Teresa, he said.

She said the new saint lived her whole life doing what Jesus called for in Chapter 25 of Matthew’s Gospel: feeding the hungry, clothing the naked, serving the sick. “I want to do that, too”.
