Xi to G-20: Let’s have more action than talk
The president of the European Commission highlighted the conflict by calling for the summit to take action.

They held the view that it is necessary to break a new path for global economic growth, increase high-quality and “bankable” projects, and promote innovation in financial tools for infrastructure investment. The Chinese official angrily responded, “This is our country!”
The US Department of State had said it was hopeful that the US president, Barack Obama, and Russia’s president, Vladimir Putin, would reach an understanding at the G20 summit taking place in China.
“Ironically it was Xi, in his opening remarks to G20 leaders, who implored them to deliver “real action” not empty talk” in their efforts to pull the global economy out of its sluggish state. Over the years, however, countries have shown sluggish performance in reaching the target amid a global economic meltdown, pushing countries to encourage domestic growth and shy away from vigorous worldwide trade.
State Department officials have declined to elaborate on what the sticking points are preventing a deal, though the US official said the remaining differences revolved around how the plan would be implemented.
The G-20 meeting “must urgently find a solution” to excess steel production, said Jean-Claude Juncker. He called on Beijing to accept a monitoring mechanism for overproduction that Beijing’s trading partners blame for low prices and job losses.
China also plans joint naval exercises with Russian Federation in the South China Sea Sept. 11-19, a move criticized by the U.S.as harming regional stability.
“All the countries of the G20 are focused on ensuring markets are genuinely open and trade is genuinely free”, he said at a press conference on Monday.
Another key issue at the meeting was Britain’s vote to leave the 28-nation European Union trade bloc, seen by some analysts as the first in a wave of moves by governments to withdraw from free trade.
“Before the Paris climate conference in December 2015, New Delhi submitted a long-term plan to reduce its emissions, pledging to cut fossil fuel emissions intensity by up to 35 per cent by 2030, compared with the 2005 level”, it said. White House spokesman Ned Price said Obama and Putin were huddling on the sidelines of the Group of 20 economic summit, with details of their informal meeting expected to be released later Monday.
A foreign ministry official said in Chinese: “Stop, please”.
“I hope the Hangzhou Summit can provide solutions that address the symptoms and root causes of global economic problems”, he said.
Mr Obama earlier insisted the quarrel had no bearing on broader Sino-US relations. According to the Washington Post, 12 journalists from the US traveled to China in order to cover the whole ordeal. The previous time they met was in Geneva on August 26. Uncertainty over the status of trade, immigration and other critical issues has disrupted business activity and prompted anxiety among investors.
She warned against the temptation for countries to look inwards, with “protectionist measures that put the brakes on growth”, but added: “The fight against inequalities is an important theme to firmly connect growth and social justice”.
But Obama said it had no bearing on the broader relationship.
“There will be no second referendum, no attempt to turn the clock back or get out of this”, said May.

The comments come as Turkey continues Operation Euphrates Shield in northern Syria, with the self-declared aim of clearing terrorist elements from along its southern border, and as the USA continues to lead a coalition of countries, including Turkey, who are jointly fighting Daesh in Iraq and Syria. The U.S. says the tests and other recent ones like it violate U.N. Security Council resolutions, and also pose a threat to aircraft and commercial ships in the region.
