Colts add 2 players to roster, sign 9 to practice squad

Unfortunately for the Cardinals, that depth made them have to cut Matthias Farley.

Linebacker Corey Lemonier and cornerback Neiko Thorpe have new National Football League teams after being claimed off waivers.

Neiko Thorpe #31 of the Oakland Raiders looks on during the preseason game against the Minnesota Vikings on August 22, 2014 at TCF Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

The Arizona Cardinals hava a knack for finding undrafted free agent defensive backs that can play in the NFL. The Colts cut cornerback Jalil Brown and tight end Chase Coffman to make room for the newcomers. He registered 13 tackles in four preseason games with the Cardinals before being released.

It’s possible though that just like last season, the Colts could eventually re-sign Brown to their active 53-man roster once he’s fully healthy-should be clear waivers.

Indianapolis is hoping for good news in the defensive backfield where corners Vontae Davis (ankle), Patrick Robinson (groin) and Darius Butler (ankle) – the top three players on the depth chart at the start of spring workouts – still are in various stages of recovery. A member of the 2010 BCS National Championship winning Auburn Tigers (alongside Cam Newton), Thorpe went undrafted in the 2012 NFL Draft, signing initially with the Kansas City Chiefs. Safety Clayton Geathers hasn’t practiced since hurting his foot in July.
