What If: Could Gary Johnson get hot and play the spoiler?

Johnson says if he does get on the debate stage with Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump, he’ll employ the same strategy he used in New Mexico. His views on immigration and foreign policy, coupled with his fiscally conservative and socially liberal outlook, seem to have held him in good stead among voters who consider restricting America’s military role overseas as a major draw, especially when both Clinton and Trump are considered as pro-war candidates.

“Neither Donald Trump nor Hillary Clinton meets the fundamental moral and professional standards we have every right to expect of an American president”, the editorial board writes.

Johnson, the former governor of New Mexico, has polled 10 percent or more in some surveys.

Johnson responded to the criticism of a third-party run, that a vote for him was a wasted vote.

Gary Earl Johnson is a businessman, author, politician, and the #Libertarian Party nominee for President of the United States in the upcoming 2016 election. Neither is remotely within reach of carrying a state.

The paper has endorsed Republicans in every presidential election since at least 1980 with Ronald Reagan.

“It could happen”, said Flake.

“The strategy is to win it outright and I know that may sound outlandish and to do that, we have to be in the presidential debates and given that 70 percent of Americans don’t know who I am, if I’m in the presidential debates, that 70 percent number will change to zero”, Johnson told Radio Iowa. According to a report in the Huffington Post, the presidential debate gives the only opportunity available to third-party candidates to increase their reach by nearly 50-fold by helping them reach upwards of 50 million Americans at once. That could indicate that Johnson gives a home to voters who feel closer to the Republican Party, but are not planning on supporting Trump even in a two-person race.

But Trump’s advantage over Clinton in the poll actually widened slightly when Johnson was included, from 5 points to 7 points.
