As she put it: “I’m just looking at it as a chance to be grateful for the circumstance I have and the other chance just to improve”.

Edmund went on to hold serve in that game then clinched the tiebreaker with a forehand victor.
The fans in Armstrong were no doubt on the side of the 20th-seeded American, as Edmund quietly went about his business.
Second-seeded Angelique Kerber beat two-time Wimbledon champ Petra Kvitova in straight sets to reach the U.S. Open quarterfinals for the first time since 2011.
On Sunday, Djokovic showed few signs of rust while running through Edmund in under two hours, despite dealing with an elbow injury that slowed down the rout in the third set.
Edmund and Djokovic have only met once before, at this year’s hard court Miami Masters where the Serb cruised to a 6-3 6-3 victory.
“It’s a little disappointing for sure”, said Isner.
“I wanted to make him move around the court”, said Djokovic afterwards.
It is a mission statement straight from mind control central – understandable in some ways, given Konta’s past struggles with self-belief and confidence – but it would be good to see her lighten up a bit and perhaps find even more of her game, which is already in great shape. “I have to hit the “delete” button, watch some football, and hopefully that will clear me up”.
Monroe and Young had split the first two sets with Spain’s Pablo Carreno Busta and Guillermo Garcia-Lopez and were trailing 4-2 in the third when the incident happened.
Against Tsonga he mustered only five aces and was broken six times by the 2008 Australian Open runner-up, who has reached at least the semifinals of every Grand Slam except this one. “The first complete match I played was a first-round night session”, Djokovic said on court afterwards.
“But I’m not too concerned about my game itself”. I knew it was going to come out to one or two points.
That he did. Yet while Djokovic looked quite good for the first two sets against the 84th-ranked Edmund, and again at the very end, there was that interlude that included the trip from the trainer at 2-1 in the last set. He was given another rapid advance when Russian Mikhail Youzhny retired due to a leg injury when trailing 4-2 in the first set on Friday.
“It’s going to be a tough against Jo, who has been playing some great tennis”, Djokovic said.
“I need to get my serve better”.
‘I want to wish Kyle all the best.
Jo Konta’s run at the US Open came to an end at exactly the same stage as past year: the fourth round.
Bondarenko was a U.S. Open quarterfinalist in 2009 but hasn’t been past the third round at a Grand Slam since. It’s the first time since January she’s won three matches at the same tournament.
Edmund was playing his best tennis of the evening, but it still wasn’t good enough.
Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic both won their third round matches at the 2016 US Open.
But the Serb broke back immediately and a break to love in the 10th game sealed victory shortly afterwards after an hour and 55 minutes on court.
He played down any possible problems post match however, preferring to focus on the match itself, as he continues his quest for a 13th Grand Slam title.
“I’m feeling very good, to be honest”.

“I’m still recovering, it was quite a traumatic experience”.
