The Group of 20 developed and emerging economies, this year gathering in a scenic eastern Chinese city that is largely deserted under a sweeping security operation, represents 85 per cent of the world’s gross domestic product and two-thirds of its population.
“We are still analyzing details but this is a grave threat to our nation’s security, and we express deep concern”, the Japan Defence Ministry said in a statement.
Following accusations of delivering a calculated diplomatic snub to United States President Barack Obama for not providing with a staircase to leave his plane during his arrival at the G20 Summit by Chinese authorities, a Chinese newspaper has suggested that the incident was “trifling” one adding, it has been sensationalised by the western media.
“Group of 20 countries should abide by their commitment to avoid taking new protectionist measures, strengthen investment policy co-operation and take effective action to promote trade growth”, Xi said.
“You saw that all the other country leaders all used the stairs that China provided”.
A Chinese security official had also blocked National Security Adviser Susan Rice on the tarmac and yelled at another USA official trying to help journalists get closer to Obama. The Pentagon has backed the incursions, but said they should only be aimed at IS fighters.
Obama stressed that theme at a separate news conference with May. He and May said their countries would continue an ambitious trade agenda together, though Obama conceded that Britain’s first task was to figure out its new trade relationship with its European Union neighbors. “We must all work together to spur economic growth, to boost free trade and build a fairer economy that truly works for all”.
Host country China produces half of the world’s steel and it stands accused of dumping on global markets by the U.S. and European Union.
Beijing made trade a theme of the gathering in this lakeside city southwest of Shanghai but faces complaints that a flood of low-priced Chinese steel into global markets threatens USA and European jobs, propelling the rise of political movements that promise to curb trade.
“So where we see them violating global rules and norms, as we have seen in some cases in the South China Sea or in some of their behaviour when it comes to economic policy, we’ve been very firm”. The emerging deal is expected to also include provisions to ensure aid can reach besieged areas of Syria and steps to prevent Syrian President Bashar Assad’s government from bombing areas where USA -backed rebels are operating.

The United States and Russia came up short Sunday on a deal to end years of brutal fighting between Syria’s Russian-backed government and US -supported rebels. Washington has hiked import duties by up to 500 percent on Chinese steel to offset what it says are improper subsidies.
